The Irvine Community Land Trust (ICLT) develops thoughtfully planned housing communities that remain affordable for residents and working families. Through careful planning, collaboration with experienced partners, and responsible development practices, ICLT works to expand housing opportunities while preserving long-term affordability across the communities it serves, including Irvine.
Each housing development involves a coordinated process that includes site planning, partnerships, development, and long-term stewardship. By following this approach, ICLT helps ensure that every community is designed to support both residents and the long-term needs of the community.
Planning and Site Development
Every housing community begins with careful planning and evaluation. ICLT works with housing professionals, city leaders, and development partners to identify appropriate sites and design communities that integrate well with the surrounding neighborhood.
Development and Construction
ICLT looks to finance the developments through the various city, county, state and federal programs available to affordable housing development such as Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), HOME funds, Orange County Housing Finance Trust funds, Affordable Housing Programs, HUD and many more.
Long-Term Affordability
The community land trust model includes that ICLT owns the land and places a recorded deed that preserves its affordability forever. Through this model, ICLT helps ensure that housing remains affordable for future generations. By maintaining stewardship of the land and supporting responsible housing management, ICLT helps preserve lasting housing opportunities across Orange County while maintaining its strong connection to Irvine.
